A life devoted to flow systems
Donald “Don” Miller spent more than five decades studying fluid systems—from aero-engine development and the British Hydrodynamic Research Association to the pressure-loss correlations published in Internal Flow Systems in 1978.
The scientific foundation of micro cutting
Don explored abrasive suspension jets, compressibility, contamination control and ultra-fine abrasive delivery long before micro-scale waterjet became commercially viable. His work on 40–50 µm jets and cutting-head concepts helped establish a new category of non-thermal precision.
From possibility to industrial platform
Don’s collaboration with Christian Öjmertz began in 2006. His patents, nozzle concepts and disciplined understanding of fluid physics helped shape the first Finecut system and Finepart Sweden AB, which he co-founded in 2012. His legacy lives on in every controlled micron of the process.
